Statewide Environmental Resource Permitting Updates
Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)
Currently in Florida, there are at least five versions of the rules on Environmental Resource Permits (ERPs). Depending on the Water Management District (WMD), there are different requirements and expectations.
On April 14, 2012, Governor Rick Scott signed legislation that gave the FDEP the power to create one statewide rule for the ERP program. The FDEP will work with Florida's five WMDs, local government, citizens, and businesses to develop a less complex program in the hopes of improving program comprehension and consistency in permitting decisions.
