Agricultural
Engineering
Awarded the International Sunkist Young Designer Award for “significant influence in agricultural engineering through original and technical contributions for innovative agricultural waste management systems designs,” Mr. Brian Roy, President of RCS, has helped lead the firm to a position of prominence among agricultural engineering firms in Florida. RCS is a Certified NRCS Technical Service Provider.
With a multitude of agricultural projects completed across the United States, RCS has successfully helped bridge the gap between the need of the land owner and what is in the best interest of the environment through the innovative design of cost-effective, farm-based best management practices (BMPs) and management solutions.
In addition to having successfully designed and implemented multiple BMPs for animal waste management, water control, erosion control, and irrigation management, RCS also has extensive experience in designing and overseeing the construction and certification of animal waste management systems and edge-of-farm treatment systems. RCS is familiar with and has utilized multiple NRCS modeling softwares, including TR-20, TR-55, WATNUTFL, PIPEFLOW, DRAINMOD, and STOWAT.

Further, RCS and its professionals have extensive experience in obtaining funding from many sources, including the USDA/NRCS, FDACS, Water Management Districts, and direct congressional appropriations. RCS has obtained over $25 million in design and construction grants for clients.

Environmental &
Ecological
RCS’ history of providing environmental and ecological consultation services covers the majority of possible environmental services. Traditionally, RCS has provided extensive environmental services to develop conservation and restoration projects for municipal clients to meet environmental improvement targets. These projects often include elements allowing for public recreational use. Also, RCS has designed environmental incentive projects, primarily for agricultural operations, and obtained grants through cost-sharing entities, such as Water Management Districts, the Florida Department of Agricultural Services, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service/United States Department of Agriculture.
RCS has also evaluated potential properties for commercial and agricultural development, including investigatory services to determine the presence of wetlands and listed species, permitting restraints, water supply, existing infrastructure, hazardous materials, etc. Further, RCS often identifies, analyzes, and evaluates the project’s potential impact on sensitive ecosystems, such as wetlands, riparian zones, endangered species habitats, and other critical natural areas. This assessment involves a careful study of biodiversity, habitat disruption, and potential long-term ecological consequences.
RCS conducts sampling, analysis of laboratory results, and compliance reporting for operational and environmental permits and mitigation plans in support of agricultural operations, biosolids application, nutrient management, and environmental incentive projects.
