NRCS Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program
The United State Department of Agriculture/Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is now accepting proposals for funding opportunities for the Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program (FRPP). The FRPP is centered on preserving Florida's natural environment and historic or archaeological resources by sustaining low-impact agricultural activities and preventing further development.
The NRCS provides funding, up to 50% of the fair market easement value, to purchase conservation easements or other interests from landowners. In order to qualify, the land has to either have prime, unique, or other productive soils, contain historic or archaeological resources, or further State or local policy consistent with the intent and goals of the program.
Proposals must be submitted to the NRCS office in Gainesville, Florida by March 25, 2013. For more information on how to submit a proposal or proposal requirements, please visit our source site: http://www.fl.nrcs.usda.gov/news/FRPP_NR_2013.html
